We're really excited to be co-hosting our first Christmas Special with Irregular Folks when we double bill two amazing artists, Gaelynn Lea and Waitress for the Bees.

Gaelynn Lea is over from the United States for a rare visit. She creates music so beautiful, so thought provoking and so atmospheric it will give you goose bumps. She plays her violin like a cello creating a beautifully unique sound. Mixing Celtic and folk with an inspirational alt-indie singer songwriter style. Her other worldly childlike voice blends with her violin as it swirls and layers into a sometimes dark and haunting melody. Gaelynn first came to prominence when she won NPR Radio’s (A US public not for profit radio station) Tiny Desk Concert, amidst 6000 entries.  As well as an incredible musician, Gaelynn is also an inspirational public speaker and keen advocate of disability rights. Prepare to be truly inspired!

Waitress for The Bees is the solo project of Emma Hooper. Emma is also a renowned session musician having played with the likes of Peter Gabriel, The Heavy and Toni Braxton. She also plays as part of string quartet Red Carousel. With Waitress for the Bees she has created her own unique genre which she has coined Dino-Viola Pop. Emma’s sound varies from the jaunty to the avant-garde as she treats us to an incredible array of instruments using viola, accordion, saw, a glock from a Finnish Farm auction, electronics, and vocals that she twists and winds creating quirky and utterly unique tales of dinosaurs and insects.
