Ethereal, haunting and beautiful, Nathaniel Mann’s live performances with tuned pigeon whistles have stirred wonder in audiences. He embarked on this creative journey with “Pigeon Pete” and his Birmingham Roller pigeon’s in 2011 and last year BBC Radio 4 aired a documentary about the final leg of the odyssey, creating his perfect 3D printed pigeon whistle.
Now this whistle has been added to the Pitt Rivers Museum’s rare collection of pigeon whistles and is on special display. To mark this, Nathaniel and Pete will give an exclusive talk, with words, clips from the documentary, and song about the remarkable pigeon whistles and Pete’s beautiful Birmingham Rollers.
Nathaniel has recently won the pretigious £10,000 Arts Foundation Award for 2018 which recongnises talented emerging artists in crafts, fine art, performance, film and new media. Congratulations Nathaniel!
