Listen Up! is a series of FREE music-making workshop series for young people aged 10 to 16 in and around the Barton area of Oxford, delivered by OCM and Oxford County Music Services.

The project is designed to give young people access to music-making activities, and opportunities to access music technology, musical instruments, and recording facilities. The three day project involves working with a group of professional musicians who can nurture musical talents and ideas and help small groups produce new original tracks they can be proud of.

We have an exciting team of music professionals/workshop leaders to help. They are:

Rocco (fka Bellatrix) – World Beatbox Champion and sonic innovator, a pioneer in blending vocal percussion, live bass, and loop-station wizardry on global stages. Rocco breaks down beatboxing so that anyone can get started and add it to their musical skillset. Rocco also teaches beat making and composition secrets to help participants start to create their own tracks.

Dave Noble – Multi-disciplinary multi-instrumentalist behind projects like Nature Boy, Papa Nui, and Rangalin, known for crossing the musical boundaries of folk, pop, jazz and world music. Dave demystifies music-making by breaking down fundamental production and songwriting tools so participants can unleash their creativity and bring their own original ideas to life.

Nigel Firth – Producer, guitarist, and songwriter behind the gritty, genre-bending sounds of Vienna Ditto and Old Man May. Drawing on years of studio and teaching experience, Nigel breaks down the mechanics of songwriting and electronic production to help young artists turn raw musical ideas into fully polished tracks.
