Part of New Music Biennial

Violinist and composer Ellie Wilson highlights the UK’s biodiversity decline in a multi-instrumental piece that harnesses data from moths to make immersive sound.

Moth x Human is a thought-provoking composition that highlights declining UK biodiversity. Moth activity data is sonified into emotive, immersive soundscapes, alongside acoustic instruments, field recordings, and electronics.

Sonified moth activity data combines with acoustic instruments and electronics in an immersive work highlighting biodiversity decline that was written by violinist-composer Ellie Wilson.

Part of New Music Biennial, this event includes two performances of the same work and a short interview with the creative team in between the two, enabling audiences to experience the second performance with greater insight into the creative process.

This piece is commissioned by Oxford Contemporary Music and supported by UKCEH.
